Second Stage

Second Stage Housing may be an option for abused women and their children who need affordable housing while getting back on their feet.

An abused woman can apply for Second Stage Housing regardless of whether or not she stayed in the emergency shelter.

Women in Second Stage Housing:
  • must apply, be accepted and sign a contract acknowledging their responsibilities as a resident of a Second Stage House.
  • may stay for up to 6 months.
  • must pay monthly rent based on their income.
  • share the home with other women and their children.
  • are responsible for housekeeping, cutting the grass, shovelling the driveway.
  • must complete a goal plan for taking the practical steps to independence.
