An abused woman can apply for Second Stage Housing regardless of whether or not she stayed in the emergency shelter. Women in Second Stage Housing: must apply, be accepted and sign a contract acknowledging their responsibilities as a resident of a Second Stage House. may stay for up to 6 months. must pay monthly rent based on their income. share the home with other women and their children. are responsible for housekeeping, cutting the grass, shovelling the driveway. must complete a goal plan for taking the practical steps to independence.
